mechanic anyone?

anyone know a good mechanic? our 96 camry is having some serious issues.
we were driving home from our friends house yesterday afternoon and our camry just stalled and shut-down. smoke started coming out from under the hood and i know enough about cars to know that’s not supposed to happen. we pushed it to a gas station right around the corner and let it sit. i checked the oil and the coolant (that’s about all I know how to do… and apparently i don’t do it enough) and then we sat. after a while, i got the car started and let it run for a few minutes. it was looking like it was going to make it so we headed down the road to see if we could at least make it home. but we only got a few blocks and it started to over-heat again so i pulled it into a parking lot just in time for it to shut-down.
i really hope the car isn’t dead but i have no idea.
if anyone knows of a good mechanic that’s in the Antioch area, could you give me a call and let me know?
